The week in music – 23rd January

Shobaleader One –
Journey to Reedham

Squarepusher has formed a supergroup. I’ll repeat
that:
Squarepusher has formed a supergroup. Along with Strobe Nazard, Company Lazer and Arg Nution, he’s released a new version of his 1997 track Journey to Reedham to announce the release of the group’s new EP, Elektrac, coming March 10th. You can listen to it here.

Yasutaka Nakata, Charli XCX,
Kyary Pamyu Pamyu – Crazy Crazy

Charli XCX and Kyary are both super-sugary pop icons who make surprisingly great music. Under the wing of Kyary’s producer Nakata, the unusual duo have released a song so sweet it’ll give you diabetes. Listen to it here.

Dirty Projectors – Up in Hudson

Indie rock staples Dirty Projectors have released a song from their upcoming self-titled album coming February 4th which mixes brass with electric. Listen to it here.

Ty Segall – Break a Guitar

Ty Segall releases music more often than some people change their underwear, so it’s a good thing his songwriting is consistently great. Break a Guitar is textbook Segall; fuzzed out, furious guitar and a belting chorus. Listen to the second single from his upcoming self-titled album here.
